Brenda J. Mixson, Managing Director
Brenda Mixson is a Managing Director of Real Estate Investment and Finance at
Island Capital Group.
She has been with Island Capital Group since the Company’s inception. Prior to joining Island Capital Group, Ms. Mixson was a Managing Director of Insignia Financial Group, Inc., where she focused primarily on Insignia’s securitized real estate debt funds. Ms. Mixson previously held a variety of senior executive positions in the real estate finance industry. Some of these key posts include: Executive Vice President of Travelers Realty Investment Corporation with responsibility for a $3 billion portfolio of commercial real estate and mortgages; COO of one of George Soros’ real estate funds; Managing Director with global responsibilities in Emerging Market finance with ING Barings; and CIO and CFO in a start-up commercial mortgage securitization company. Ms. Mixson has also served as the CFO of a publicly traded REIT, and on the Board of Directors of Avalon Bay Apartment Communities, Inc., an NYSE - listed REIT from 1994 to 2001. She has also served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Commercial Mortgage Securitization Association.
Ms. Mixson received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Minnesota in 1983.
