Matthew J. Stern, Managing Director
Matt Stern is a Managing Director of Island Capital Group. Joining the Company in April 2010, Mr. Stern primarily focuses on the Company’s M&A and other investment banking activities.
Prior to joining Island Capital Group, Mr. Stern was a Managing Director and head of Corporate Finance at Centerline Capital Group. In that role, Mr. Stern executed strategic and business development transactions for the Company, oversaw and negotiated its debt and equity financing activities and oversaw the Company’s financial modeling and analytics. During his time at Centerline, Mr. Stern helped execute the $280 million acquisition of ARCap REIT in 2006, the $2.8 billion securitization of Centerline’s bond portfolio in 2007 and the Company’s $2 billion restructuring and recapitalization in March 2010. Prior to joining Centerline in 2006, Mr. Stern worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions group of Lehman Brothers, executing over $6 billion of merger, acquisition and financing transactions.
Mr. Stern received a Masters in Business Administration with Distinction, from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University in 2003 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, magna cum laude with Distinction, from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996.
